Terms of Service
Last updated
Plain English, and short on purpose. Use Pillar for your own company's work, treat other tenants' data as off limits, and understand that the workspace owner — not us — controls what is inside a workspace.
The agreement
Pillar is operated by askHermis. By creating an account, joining a workspace or otherwise using Pillar you accept these terms. If you are accepting on behalf of a company, you confirm you are authorised to bind it, and “you” means that company.
What Pillar is
A shared workspace for a founding team: the pillars the company stands on, the tasks hanging off them, a sales pipeline, KPIs and a data room. It is a working tool, not a system of record for legal or regulatory purposes, and nothing in it is financial, legal or tax advice. Keep your own copies of anything you are obliged to retain.
Accounts
You need an account, and you are responsible for what happens under it: keep your credentials to yourself and tell us at [contact email] if you think they have leaked. You must be at least 16 years old. Accounts are personal — sharing one login across a team defeats the roles and the audit trail alike.
Workspaces and your content
The workspace owner is in charge of the workspace. Owners and admins invite and remove members, set roles, edit settings, delete records and can delete the workspace outright. Content a member adds belongs to the workspace, not to that member: if you leave, or are removed, what you wrote stays behind.
You keep every right you already have in your content. askHermis claims no ownership of it and takes only the licence needed to host it, transmit it and display it back to your team so the product can work. We do not use your workspace content to train machine learning models. Ask us and we will export a workspace, or delete it.
The Google connection
Connecting Google is optional and personal to each member. By connecting you confirm you are entitled to grant access to that account — if it is issued by your employer, that their policy allows it. Your use of Google services stays governed by your agreement with Google. What Pillar reads, writes and stores is set out in the Privacy Policy, which forms part of these terms; you can withdraw the connection at any time under Settings → Integrations.
Acceptable use
Do not:
- attempt to reach another tenant's workspace, or any data that is not yours, by any means;
- probe, scan or load-test the service without our written permission — we will usually give it, so ask at [contact email];
- upload malware, or content that is illegal, infringing, or that you have no right to store;
- scrape or bulk-extract the service through anything other than the interfaces we document;
- resell, sublicense or white-label Pillar without a written agreement;
- use the service to send unsolicited messages.
Found a vulnerability? Report it to [contact email] before disclosing it. We will not pursue anyone who reports in good faith and gives us a reasonable window to fix it.
Availability and changes
Pillar is offered without an uptime commitment. We will take it down for maintenance when we must, and we may add, change or retire features. We give notice before removing something a paying customer depends on.
Fees
Pillar is currently free to use. If we introduce paid plans we will say so clearly and give notice before anything is charged. Nothing here obliges you to buy.
Termination
You may stop at any time: disconnect Google, delete the workspace, ask us to close your account. We may suspend or terminate an account that breaches these terms, that puts the service or other customers at risk, or where the law requires it — with notice where it is practical to give it. On termination we delete workspace content on request, subject to the backup window described in the Privacy Policy. The clauses on content ownership, warranties, liability and governing law survive.
No warranty
Pillar is provided as is and as available, without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose and non-infringement. We do not warrant that the service will be uninterrupted or error-free, nor that a sync with Google will always be complete or timely — Google's APIs are outside our control, and the mirrored copy is a convenience, not the authoritative record.
Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent the law allows, askHermis is not liable for indirect, incidental, special or consequential damages, nor for lost profits, lost revenue, lost business or lost or corrupted data, even if we were told such damage was possible. Our total liability for all claims arising out of or relating to the service is capped at the greater of the amounts you paid us in the twelve months before the claim and [liability cap].
Nothing here limits liability that cannot be limited by law, including for fraud, or for death or personal injury caused by negligence.
Indemnity
You will cover askHermis against third-party claims arising from content you put into Pillar, or from your use of the service in breach of these terms.
Changes to these terms
We publish the revised text here and move the Last updated date. Material changes are announced inside the product before they take effect; continuing to use Pillar afterwards means you accept them. If you do not, stop using the service and ask us to close your account.
Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of [governing law jurisdiction], and the courts of [courts / venue] have exclusive jurisdiction, without prejudice to any mandatory consumer protections in your country of residence.
